The Curriculum

We are developing a curriculum at Parklands High School that meets our learners needs and gives them the skills and qualifications necessary for success in life.

Our Learning at Parklands project in Year 7 has won national acclaim and gives young people a great start to Secondary School. This is continued in Year 8 where personal skills are developed further. In Year 9 we have introduced a vocational element for some learners in preparation for their options in Key Stage 4.

Raising Standards

In Key Stage 4 we are striving to raise standards in all areas of the curriculum, particularly in English and Maths. Our vocational courses are proving to be extremely successful and providing opportunities for more pupils than before to access Further and Higher Education.

In the Sixth Form we can offer all learners their full entitlement through collaboration with other schools. At Parklands we offer Sport and Performing Arts at Level 2 and 3. These subjects are on offer alongside Travel and Tourism and Business Studies. We hope to extend the number of options available in school in 2008/09
